'Sloth' has its 'Opposite' in the 7 'Virtues' [of the Heart] but the 'Desert' has an Esoteric significance and often finds 'form' in Poetry [Dorothy Bridges Mother of Jeff wrote much on the Subject as a young Woman.. luckily She kept a Journal and was able to combine some memories with some very emotional imagery]..
'The 'Wasteland' by Eliot etc which even shows up in 'Apocalypse Now' Movie ..All Characters -'Vanity' 'Lust' 'Gluttony' Pride' etc are unconsciously depicted 'Sloth' is the name Beau Bridges calls His Brother...and the 7 Deadly Sins is also a Junior 'Magic Trick'- so Beau perhaps used an 'Egg Timer ' during His USCG Cook days..? Gottlieb is also a manufacturer of? Pinball Machines..

'Across the Sands of Time' as a line of recall - because the very Phrase is incongruous- the only Place where Sand and Time meet in any context as far as I know is in an 'Egg-Timer' or 'HourGlass'.

Sobchak constantly thwarts Jeff's attempts at 'Getting Home' as seen in the 'Nihilist Bag Handover' Scene where the Group of Bikers seemingly disappear into the Sunset as Sobchak yet again diverts Jeff's attention in the Sandy landscape by stupidly jumping out of a moving vehicle like some kind of Juvenile Stunt Person..
This Scene near a Bridge which Sobchak [OR 'GIBBOR' ]cannot Cross is amusing because Films can be 'Paused' by the Viewer enabling Jeff to simply walk across the Bridge and wait for the Bikers to complete Their circular ROUTE BACK TO JEFF and pick Him up Pillion Style.
[This is a Jungian 'Visualization' Technique that should be easily accomplished by a Professional Actor] The Film can be Re-started leaving Sobchak alone on the 'other side' with nothing but His Brown Paper Bag and Jeff happily heading Home to His Family.
Sobchak cannot cross the Bridge for a reason but without dialogue I'll leave it there.. except to say fused Sand is Glass...and the Bottle that was empty in the Swimming Pool Scene at the beginning is the only place Sobchak can return to..as He is Vodka-'Spirit' or 'Genie' as Metaphor-simply Stopping up the Bottle and throwing it in a Glass Recycling Dumpster will ensure Jeff is never again troubled by this 'Fragile' 'Psychopomp'.[who must now return to the 'Glass Desert' which is in Egypt not far from Cairo]

The Netflix Series 'Stranger Things' is based on an alleged real life Government Experiment.

The alleged tests, rumours of which first spread in the early 1980s, were said to have focused on psychological-warfare techniques as well as mind control, time travel, and teleportation.

Preston B. Nichols sought to legitimize the existence of the project in his 1992 book, The Montauk Project: Experiments in Time, in which he claimed to have recovered repressed memories during his time as a subject in the mysterious experiment.

In 1984 the golf course was redesigned to 18 holes. At the height of the Nevele Resort, the resort has 430 rooms and 800 employees. In the 1960's the borscht belt resorts started to decline when air travel became cheaper and more popular. The Nevele tried to appeal to more clients, so they stopped serving kosher meals. They then sold the hotel in 1997 to Fred Kassner but then died a year later, and was re-purchased for 15.8 million. The hotel only had 40% occupancy so they started renovations to appeal to corporate guests while also keeping their Jewish clients. They refurbished all 600+ rooms as well as other spaces in the hotel. They then opened the Honors haven resort and spa (which is still open) and let Nevele operate separately. The resort was then put up for sale in 2008 for 26.5 million, the hotel was in horrible condition, and struggled with leaks, mold, and hot water. They closed without notice in 2009.
